James Steck

James is one of the coaches at the Northern Virginia Pole Vault Club. He was a D1 pole vaulter at Virginia Tech with an Indoor PR of 5.21 meters (17'1") and an Outdoor PR of 5.16 meters (16'11"). In high school, he was a two time New York State Champion, and holds his school record of 15 feet. In college, he scored in the top eight at the ACC Championship Meets for five seasons, and attended national collegiate competitions such as NCAA Eastern Regionals and Texas Relays. He has primarily coached at Chantilly High School for the past six years, but has also coached Centreville High School and Westfield High School. He has coached three school record holders. On the boys' side, the height was 14'8," and on the girls' side, two vaulters achieved jumps of 11'6." James has coached four District Champions, four Regional Champions, three all-state athletes, and three Nike National qualifiers. He loves the sport and is always learning alongside the athletes.

He currently teaches English at Chantilly High School.
